Give a FEW (Fair-trade, Ethical and for Women) gifts this Christmas!

Posted by

This time of year has many of us feeling like we’re just traipsing around shopping centres buying empty and meaningless gifts that are probably made in horrible sweatshops. So we want to support you to purchase fair-trade, ethical gifts whose profits go towards women and girl’s empowerment programs.

We love gifts that are by women and for women, so whether you are gifting them to the important people in your life or just planning to grab some for yourself, all these gifts are made by women or the product’s profits benefit disadvantaged women by equipping them with the skills, education and income they need to live a life of dignity.

So here’s a FEW ideas to fit every budget this Christmas!

Seven Women – Christmas Wreath & Christmas tree

Here are a FEW (fair-trade, ethical and for/by women) festive gifts from the social enterprise Seven Women. Their handmade products are sold in Australia with profits providing skills and literacy training to marginalised Nepalese women, which enables them to earn their own income and independence.

Each felt ball on these gorgeous items are hand rolled so you can imagine how long they take these women to make! What a perfect way to brighten up your home with a Christmas Wreath ($69) or Christmas tree decoration ($75) from Seven Women.

Words With Heart – Girl Power Pack & I Heart It Notebooks

Words With Heart is an eco-friendly stationery brand that donates 50% of profits to projects supporting women’s and girls’ education. We’ve chosen these FEW gorgeous gift packs to feature in our guide because, like us, Words With Heart believes that everyone has the right to a quality education, and an educated girl can transform her future.

The Girl Power journal is made from 100% recycled paper and the pens are made with 100% recycled paper and fittings made from biodegradable cornstarch. This gift is just $25 including postage. The I Heart It Notebook pack includes 3 A5 Notebooks for $30 made with 100% post-consumer recycled paper. We absolutely love their titles: ‘Girls just wanna have fun-damental human rights’, ‘Small acts can change the world’, and ‘I stand for equality, respect, freedom.’ Don’t wait another minute if you want to get these FEW before Christmas!
